Bike power to finish

How many watts do I need?

After a significant upgrade this calculator can: give you finish time based on power, or power strategy, or tell you how much power you would need to finish in a specific time. You can choose pre-selected races, or input your own data.

That is not all, it will also show you, for pre-recorded routes, maps, segments, and all technical highlights (climbs, descents, and sharp turns).

If there is a race you would like me to upload, send me a message!

How to use this calculator

The video below shows the logic behind the former version (this still applies here as well)

There is one thing you need to pay attention though: Finish time

Physics Vs strategy

Physics means using constant power at all times, it averages everything, and is most likely to undershoot.

Strategy cut the course by segments, and on each segment it gives speed at given power, but and it is a big but, it doesn't account for acceleration and deceleration times (I could try to factor that in but it is not easy).

So what do use?

I would recommend looking at the average between the two since one is likely too fast, and the other too slow.

In my experience and looking at data, it is definitely closer to the strategy one in race conditions, very close in fact.

(I might add a line so you don't have to do the average, sometime later)
